a rough night

While watching the oscars last night, I suddenly started spotting pink/light brown.  The doctor assured me that it was probably nothing, but I was terrified.  We went to the office at 9:00 this morning, and thankfully the twins looked great.  Both measuring at 8 weeks 5 days with heart rates of 180 and 169.  I'm still spotting a little, though, so still feeling anxious.

In an effort to reassure me, the doctor said that things were progressing normally.  He said something to the effect of "normal pregnancies progress normally, and normal pregnancies are much more likely to continue to be normal than for something to go wrong."  Am I ever going to feel normal?  Is there going to be a day when suddenly I believe that this is a normal pregnancy?  I am beyond grateful to be pregnant, but am looking forward to the day when things feel a little more real.

    That is so scary.
I think it will take a bit to feel "normal." A friend of mine who is pregnant said she didn't feel like it was "real" until the 3rd trimester. Although, hopefully you'll show sooner with twins - and then that will make it seem legit.

  2. Scary night for sure...
My friend spotted through most of her first trimester, but everything turned out to be fine and "normal". I would guess spotting is even more likely when carrying twins just due to small ruptures of stuff left over from the two implantations, but hopefully it will stop and not come back.

  3. I'm so glad that it turned out ok!
I always figured I would feel "normal" and "safe" after 14 weeks, but I hope that is true for you and your babies!

  5. Good for you for going in so quickly, and I'm so excited that everything looks good! I have no idea how to tell you to try to feel normal - I'm sure it's tough. So glad everything's fine!

  6. Hmm, I wonder when it will feel real? Once you start showing and find out the genders I think it's pretty irrefutably real, right? I hope you can relax soon : )

  8. Oh spotting SUCKS!! I know it's normal but it's just horrible when you see it! I had some back at 7 weeks I believe. I hope it passes quickly for you.

  9. I can imagine what you are feeling. I don't think anyone who has delt with infertility can say they feel like they have a normal pregnancy even if it seems like everything is going the way it should. There are just too many fears that we have - compared to fertile women.

Good luck and I hope the spotting stops soon.
